An active overnight shift is common for participants who experience disrupted sleep or require constant monitoring. It involves the support worker remaining awake all night for any needs required.
The primary purpose of an inactive overnight shift is to give the participant the security of someone else in the house during the night. The support worker is expected to sleep and only get up once or twice during the night to assist you.
